There is something genuinely funny about putting a shoe modeled after Spike Lee’s character on a toddler, and I am completely here for it. The Jordan Son of Mars Low fuses design elements from four different Air Jordans, and this Space Jam edition celebrates 30 years of the movie that made sneakers a plot point. For the smallest members of the family, this is a heritage shoe with actual personality.

The Son of Mars has always been the mashup silhouette. It borrows from the AJ3, 4, 5 and 20 all at once, with the lace flaps and the netting and the spike details that nod to Mars Blackmon. On this colorway the base is a soft base grey and ghost combo with white accents, clean enough for everyday wear but distinct enough that people will notice them.
For a baby and toddler shoe the practical stuff matters most, and the low cut makes it easy to get on and off little feet. The outsole is flexible where it needs to be. And at $60 released November 5, the price is about as gentle as Jordan pricing gets.

I have always had a soft spot for the Son of Mars line precisely because it is not the obvious retro pick. It is the deep cut for people who know the whole Jordan catalog, and seeing 30 years of Space Jam history on a toddler pair is a great little piece of the legacy. It’s gotta be the shoes.
