A running shoe that takes design cues from Mary Janes and dress shoes. I know how that sounds. But the ASICS GEL-DS Trainer SP pulls it off.
September 4, 2026 release. Built on the GEL-DS TRAINER 14 tooling, which is a real performance running platform. The upper goes a completely different direction though. Mary Jane proportions, delicate detailing, sitting somewhere between sneaker and dress shoe.
The adaptable lacing system lets you adjust fit and appearance. Both matter here because the shoe lives in that gray area between casual and formal. The technical tooling stays visible underneath. Part sneaker, part dress shoe, entirely its own thing.
Three colorways at launch: Black/Gunmetal, Glacier Grey/Pure Silver, and Cream/Vanilla. $130 retail. Accessible enough to grab more than one if you are into it. And the GEL-DS TRAINER 14 platform provides real cushioning. This is not a fashion shoe pretending to be technical.
The ballet-ification of sneakers keeps going. ASICS is handling it better than most. Instead of copying a Mary Jane directly, they translated those proportions into a streamlined SportStyle model that functions as a real sneaker.
