Not content with one R4, Nike recrafted the Shox R4 in Team Red and Black the same week as the triple black pair, and this is the one that’s actually going to have people stopping you in the street. Deep crimson synthetic leather upper, black Shox columns, black sole. It’s loud in the specific way only early-2000s Nike could be loud.
Like the black version, this is a proper recraft of the 2001 original. The design lines, the perforations, the silhouette itself. The big difference is that the red makes the patent-style gloss of the upper read even shinier, and the columns underneath look almost mechanical. I keep saying robot about this shoe because that’s what it is. A robot for your feet.
$155 retail, dropped November 4th, general release. Same deal as the black pair. Nike.com has both right now, and I’d expect the red to move faster because when people come back around on Shox, they come back for a color, not for stealth.
The Shox cushioning in the heel is the same springy setup as always. It’s more comfortable than you remember from 2003 and less performative than it looked back then. The heel distributes weight well on long walks, which I mention because people assume this is a looks-only shoe. It isn’t.
Pair it with all black, let the shoe be the whole conversation, and enjoy being the person in the room wearing Shox in 2026. There won’t be many of you. That’s half the fun.
