I will be honest with you. When I first heard Jordan Brand was doing a Halloween themed Air Jordan 5, I did not expect much. Holiday themed sneakers usually end up looking like a Spirit Halloween display. But the more photos I see of this pair, the more I think Nike actually did it right.
The Air Jordan 5 “Halloween” drops on October 17, 2026, and it brings something I did not see coming. Glow in the dark outsoles. The entire bottom of the shoe lights up in the dark, which is such a small detail but it changes the whole vibe. The “23” on the lateral side is outlined in green and also glows. Even the stitching on the upper has a glow treatment.
Color blocking is what you want from a Halloween shoe. Black nubuck across most of the upper, mesh netting, tongue, and laces all blacked out. Picante Red shows up on the flame detailing on the midsole, which is a nice shade that leans more orange than true red. Green hits the outsole, the Nike Air branding on the heel, and the shark teeth get a two tone treatment. Inside the tongue there is XX stitching as a nod to Frankenstein. That is the kind of detail that tells me someone on the design team actually cared.
Style code is HQ7978-001 and retail is set at $220. That is standard for an AJ5 these days. The shoe releases via SNKRS and select Jordan Brand retailers. General release, not limited, so you should have a real shot at retail.
What I like most is that this does not feel forced. The Halloween theme works because the AJ5 already has that aggressive, almost predatory design language. The shark teeth, the fighter jet inspiration, the mesh side panels. Adding glow in the dark and Frankenstein nods fits naturally. It is not like putting a pumpkin on an Air Force 1.
The Nike Air on the heel is worth noting too. We are seeing it more on non original colorways now, and for a Holiday release it makes sense. People want that vintage feel. If you missed the Travis Scott AJ5s or the Vinny Baker pair earlier this year, this is your chance to grab an AJ5 that actually has some personality without paying resale.
