Devin Booker’s signature line keeps getting better looking, and the Nike Book 2 “Be Legendary” is proof. Bright Violet and Black over Wolf Grey, style code FZ7013-501, $145 retail, expected November 20.

The Be Legendary name is a Kobe reference, one of the messages Kobe left for Book before his passing. Nike has woven the Kobe connection through the Book line before, and this colorway goes loud with it, violet being the Mamba’s color as much as purple is. On the Book 2’s low, sleek performance shape it looks more like a premium runner than a basketball shoe.

The Book 2 is one of the few modern signatures that works off court. The tooling is genuinely good, full length Cushlon with a Zoom Air unit up front, but the reason people buy them is the aesthetics. The 2 has that smooth, uncluttered side profile that photographs like a lifestyle shoe.

Book has been deep in the playoffs and the Finals runs keep pushing signature shoes up the cultural ladder. Signature basketball outside the big three has been a growth market and Book is leading it.

$145 is the standard Book 2 price point, which is a lot of shoe for the money compared to the $200 plus tier. When the violet pairs surface on SNKRS in November, the Kobe community alone will make them move.
