The Greedy Air Max 95 is back and honestly I did not expect to care this much. IM2211-001 dropped September 8 through SNKRS and select Nike Sportswear retailers for $200, and it brought something with it that purists have been begging for since the Big Bubble program started. The early-spec Air unit. The big one. The one that actually looks like the 1995 originals instead of the shrunken modern bubble we have been living with for years.

If you are new to this, the Greedy is basically the Air Max 95’s greatest hits album pressed onto a single shoe. The name comes from the concept. Instead of picking one classic colorway, the design raids the archive and takes a little from each. Volt from the Neon. Solar Red. Bright Mandarin. Grape. All of it gets spliced into those famous layered panels that Sergio Lozano drew from human anatomy back in the mid 90s. Grey gradient in the middle to break it all up, black netting up top, and mismatched placement so the medial side flips what the lateral side is doing.

This is not the first time Nike has pulled the mashup move. The original Greedy landed in 2015 as part of the AM95’s 20th anniversary celebration, and some people called it the What The back then because the idea is so similar. That shoe became a legit grail. Resale went stupid, and for years the only way to get one was paying prices that made your eyes water. Every so often Nike would do another Greedy-adjacent release but they never quite recaptured the first one.

What makes the 2026 version different is the Big Bubble treatment. That is not marketing fluff. The original 1995 Air Max 95 had a visibly larger Air window in the forefoot, and somewhere along the way the tooling got revised and the bubble shrank. Anyone who owns an early pair and a modern retro can see it instantly. Nike has been rolling out this corrected construction across the Big Bubble line, and the Greedy getting it means this is the closest you can get to the old tooling without a time machine.

The materials got the faithful treatment too. Real suede and mesh panelling on the layered upper instead of the cheaper feeling builds that showed up on some later Greedy takes. White rope laces feed through webbing eyelets. The tongue tags and insole branding keep the mismatch energy going. Nothing about it feels like a watered down version of the concept, which was my worry when I first saw the leaked photos.

I keep going back and forth on whether this colorway works in person. On camera it can look chaotic, like someone dumped a parts bin onto an AM95. But that is kind of the point of a Greedy. Every panel is a reference, so if you know the history of the model you can basically play spot the colorway across the upper. Volt sitting next to Grape next to Solar Red should not work and yet it does, partly because the grey gradient panels act like a referee keeping everything from brawling.

The retail run was wider than people expected. SNKRS, Nike.com, Foot Locker, Finish Line, and DTLR all stocked it, which tells you Nike knew demand was there beyond the usual SNKRS crowd. At $200 it sat twenty bucks above a standard Air Max 95 retro, and honestly the Big Bubble construction and premium materials justify that gap. You are paying for tooling that took actual effort to bring back, not just a new paint job on the same old mold.

The resale market has already calmed down from release week, which is good news if you slept on the drop. Pairs are moving at or under retail on the resale apps right now, which is wild for a shoe with this much history behind it. I figured this one would hold above $200 for at least a few months. It is not. That makes this one of the easier grail-adjacent pickups of the fall season.

Sizing runs true to the Big Bubble retros in my experience. Standard AM95 length, snug through the midfoot because of the layered eyestay, and the usual break-in period before the suede softens up. If you wear the newer AM95 tooling and liked the fit there, this is the same last with the older Air setup underneath it.

Bottom line for me. This is the version of the Greedy people have been asking for since 2015, and Nike actually delivered it with the right bubble and the right materials. If you have any affection for the Air Max 95 as a design, this is an easy recommend at current prices. The mashup thing is not for everyone and I get that, but a piece of AM95 history wearing five colorways at once is exactly the kind of release that keeps this model interesting thirty-plus years in.
