The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 does not need help selling. It has been one of the most popular retro runners on the market for a couple years now. But ASICS keeps pumping out colorways anyway, and the “Sage” edition for Fall 2026 is one I actually want to talk about.
Referenced as 1203A537-117, the “Sage” retails at $160. That is the standard price for the GEL-Kayano 14. ASICS has not inflated this model’s price despite its popularity, which I respect. The release is expected during 2026 through ASICS and partner retailers.

The concept here is straightforward. ASICS took the silver base that defines the Kayano 14 and introduced shades of sage green across the upper. Touches of pale green appear on the branding and select panels. The GEL units at the bottom adopt a deeper green close to pine. The contrast is restrained on purpose.

This is not a full transformation. It is a seasonal evolution. The silver mesh and technical overlays that make the Kayano 14 recognizable are still there. The green does not replace the silver. It complements it. The result is a shoe that looks like it was always meant to be this color.

The “Sage” also dropped alongside the “Carrier Grey” colorway, 1203A537-026, which released September 4 for $165. That pair went the opposite direction, leaning into the chrome aesthetic with a clean grey palette. Having both options on the market at the same time is smart. You can go full silver or you can go silver with green. Both work.

The construction on the Kayano 14 remains consistent across colorways. Mesh and synthetic overlays form the upper. The lacing system uses the signature ASICS zigzag pattern. Visible GEL cushioning in the heel and forefoot provides the shock absorption. The tooling is performance running heritage translated into a lifestyle context.

What I like about the “Sage” is that it reads as a fall shoe without being a fall cliche. You know what I mean. Brands love to dump orange and brown on everything when autumn hits. The Sage green is seasonal without being obvious. It evokes foliage and outdoor texture without screaming “pumpkin spice.”

The GEL-Kayano 14 has earned its place at the center of the tech runner trend. Breathable mesh, metallic inserts, chunky soles, visible cushioning. These are aesthetic elements that moved from performance to fashion, and the Kayano 14 has all of them. The “Sage” does not change that formula. It just gives you another reason to consider a pair.

If you already own a Kayano 14, the “Sage” is worth adding if you want a seasonal variant. If you do not own one yet, this is as good a colorway as any to start with. The green and silver combination photographs well, wears with most fall outfits, and still looks like a serious running shoe. That last part matters. The best retro runners never forget what they were originally designed to do.
