Jordan Brand is not playing it safe for Holiday 2026. The Air Jordan 3 “Not Nice” is coming November 21st, and it is the darker, weirder cousin to the festive “Santa” AJ3 dropping the same season. This one is for the people on the wrong side of Santa’s list.

The concept pulls from the iconic 1985 Air Jordan 1 chimney ad. You know the one. The “Banned” campaign that turned a NBA dress code violation into one of the most effective marketing plays in sneaker history. The “Not Nice” name flips that rebellious energy into a Christmas framework. Santa has his nice list. He has his naughty list. This shoe lives on the naughty side.
Let me talk about the materials because this is where the shoe separates itself from a standard retro. The upper uses crackled Velvet Brown nubuck. That is not a color you see every day on a Jordan 3. The crackled finish lets lighter golden tones show through underneath, giving the shoe a burnt, worn-in look. It is intentional distressing that actually works. The texture changes across the surface, so the shoe does not look uniform. Every panel has its own character.
Black panels and trim provide contrast against the brown nubuck. Then the elephant print shows up, and it is not the standard grey. It is red and black, covering the overlays around the toe and heel. I have seen a lot of elephant print variations over the years, and the red-and-black combo is aggressive in the best way. It pops against the dark upper without looking garish.
The midsole is aged tan, which adds to the worn-in vibe. This is not a crisp, clean out-of-the-box look. It is designed to feel like it has been through something. Like the shoe itself got left too close to the fireplace, which ties back to that chimney ad concept perfectly.
Red details are scattered throughout. The tongue, the stitching, the inner lining all get touches of Challenge Red. It is used sparingly, which makes it more effective. A little bit of red goes a long way on a shoe this dark.
The insoles are where the concept gets explicit. Gothic lettering spelling out “Checked It Twice” sits on the insoles. That is a direct reference to the Christmas lyric about Santa checking his list. The gothic font choice fits the dark, slightly menacing aesthetic of the whole shoe. It is not cheerful. It is not trying to be. And that commitment to the bit is what makes it work.
Nike Air branding returns on the heel tabs, which is always a win for AJ3 purists. The “Nike Air” on the back of a Jordan 3 is the way it was originally designed, and every time Jordan Brand brings it back, collectors pay attention. There is also a green section on the outsole that adds one quiet holiday reference to the otherwise dark color scheme. You might not even notice it until someone points it out.
At $215, this is priced above a standard AJ3 retro. The premium materials and the crackled nubuck finish justify the bump. This is not a mass-produced general release either. Not exactly limited, but fewer pairs will be out there compared to a standard retro run. If you want it, I would not roll the dice on a restock.
What I like about the “Not Nice” is that it does not feel forced. Holiday-themed sneakers can easily slide into gimmick territory. You slap some red and green on a shoe, call it a Christmas pack, and call it a day. This one actually has a concept that runs through every detail. The burnt nubuck, the gothic insoles, the red elephant print, the chimney ad connection. It all ties together into a cohesive story about being on the wrong list.
