Jordan Tatum 5: Jayson Tatum Fifth Signature Goes Back to What Works

Five signature shoes in and Jayson Tatum is not changing the formula. He is refining it. The Jordan Tatum 5 is here, and the biggest story is what they added and what they kept.

The headline feature is a utility strap across the midfoot. Tatum specifically asked for it after looking back at his favorite basketball shoes growing up. Lockdown without extra weight. The strap is not there for looks. It is functional. The molded midfoot wrap and heel structure add to that locked-in feel. You put these on and your foot is not going anywhere.

Cushioning comes from a 10mm forefoot Air Zoom unit. That is your propellant for quick bursts and transitions. No full-length Zoom, no elaborate stack. Just a focused Zoom unit where you need it. HART 2.0 rubber on the outsole with a herringbone pattern handles traction. This is a basketball shoe. Not a basketball-themed lifestyle shoe.

The upper uses ballistic mesh vents on the lateral, medial, and forefoot for breathability. Perforation zones along the sidewall add more airflow. The molded upper is soft and lightweight. Tony Hardman designed it. He has been with the Tatum line since the beginning and it shows. The design language is consistent but evolving.

The heel has Tatum’s number 0, and the shape of that heel detail calls back to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, his hometown. Five marks on the heel represent the Achilles injury that ended his 2025 playoff run. That is a bold choice. Most athletes would not put a reminder of their worst moment on their signature shoe. Tatum put it there on purpose. Five signature shoes. Five marks. The man is not hiding from anything.

The launch colorway is “Sunrise,” inspired by the Boston sunrise. Purple base with pink accents. A “Sunset” colorway will follow, pulling from the other end of the Boston sky. There is also a “Laser” version with tattoo-inspired graphics tied to different parts of Tatum’s life. That one should be interesting to see in person.

Price is $125 for adults, $95 for kids. Full-family sizing. That is a competitive price point for a signature shoe in 2026. Jordan Brand is not pricing these like collectibles. They want them on courts, in schools, at the Y.

China release September 24. Global drop October 15.

Tatum said the Tatum 5 is about slowing the game down and playing with purpose. After the Achilles injury and the rehab and the comeback, that message feels earned. The shoe reflects that mindset. No flash for the sake of flash. Just control, lockdown, and the tools to let a player work.

If you have been following the Tatum line, the 5 is the cleanest entry yet. If you are new to it, start here. The strap alone makes it worth trying on.
